Deposited Assets Claims

On February 5, 2001 , a new claims process was established to provide Nazi victims or their heirs with an opportunity to make claims to assets deposited in Swiss Banks in the period before and during World War II. The claims process was triggered by the publication of a list of names of owners of approximately 21,000 accounts who were probably or possibly victims of Nazi persecution. The deadline for this claims process has expired. On January 13, 2005 , an additional list of approximately 2,700 names of Account Owners and 400 names of Power of Attorney holders was published (the “2005 List”).

The 2005 List contains names that were previously identified by the ICEP auditors as possibly belonging to Holocaust victims, but which were not previously published. The 2005 List also includes several hundred names of Account Owners and Power of Attorney holders of accounts previously registered with or identified by Swiss authorities including accounts registered with Swiss authorities pursuant to the 1962 Swiss Federal Decree on Assets of Victims of Racial, Religious and Political Persecution (“1962 Survey”) and World War II era accounts belonging to Polish and Hungarian citizens which were the subject of post-War international agreements between Switzerland, Poland and Hungary. The 2005 List also includes names located by the CRT’s own archival research.

The deadline for submitting claims related to the 2005 List has expired. The claims process is part of the settlement of the Holocaust Victim Assets litigation in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, Chief Judge Edward R. Korman presiding.
